The Roman Shade Selections

By John Stabler

For a window treatment that is convenient to operate, beautiful to look at, and provides a good deal of security altogether; a roman shade is the ideal choice. This time-tested style has always been a popular window treatment option owing to its various methods of operation and numerous eye-catching colors to choose from. For homes where there are children, it is advisable to use the cordless shades to avoid creating any concerns of safety.

Cordless shades may be motorized or operated manually. Many of the motorized models are operated using a remote. Manual shades offer a less expensive option with a clean look and are easy to operate. Styles are available in both blackout and light filtering models that help to control heat and light entering the home.

Motorized roman shades have the added convenience of letting you pull your shades up and down without a direct line of site. They may be controlled with an adapter or by battery. Shades controlled with radio remote technology may allow you to operate one or more shades from one controller. These motorized designs have become more popular as prices have lowered and they become easier to use.

If you're on a budget, there are plenty of shades sold at a much lower price which have the all the features that standard shades offer. You can also purchase tailor-made roman shades to fit your home's windows perfectly. The only disadvantage of custom-made shades is that you do not have the same variety of colors to select from like other shades.

No matter what type you choose, roman shade offers protection from the sun's UV rays as well as from prying eyes. Not only will you find shades in a plethora of colors, but you will find them in many elegant fabrics. There is definitely something that will fit your dcor.
