Beautiful Gardens - It's just a Love Issue

By Carlos Perry

You can find nothing better than taking a earned rest in the beautiful surrounds of your own garden, while basking in the knowledge of having done something well. After you have created your garden on your own, from design through to planting and nurturing, it's only natural that it's going to provide you with pleasure for a long time. What exactly are the steps you need to take to create your unique garden? All you will need is to follow 10 basic steps. Determine why you would like a garden, and who will enjoy it together with you, so who do you want input from?

You want an abundance of ideas to choose from, so let the desire to have your own garden set your imagination free. Originating from your own wishes will help your garden be special to you, and you will need to choose either a formal design or an informal one. For your back garden to be casual, it should closely simulate nature's easy, flowing lines and contours. It's important to list all the things that are considered obligatory, as opposed to the non-essential nice-to-have ones. It's important to ensure you've acquired all the obligatory items before your capacity to pay starts getting stretched.

For a garden to fully gratify you, it needs to be an harmonious blend of the items considered compulsory with those that perhaps aren't but reflect your inner vision. The space for the garden will demand certain limitations, plus there will already be things in it, and all this needs to be considered in the planning stage. Some of the things to be considered are whether the land slopes or not, and whether it's a large or small area. Everything you ideally want is identified during the planning stage, and that's refined in the budgetary phase when you examine what you can afford. Once you've decided the scope of your budget you'll find out whether you can get all the elective items you covet or not. It's possible you will need to eliminate some trees, or a fountain, or even a bench. Some of the things can always be added at another time.

Your planning should include a time frame, given that you may want the garden ready in time for a special event. Time and money constraints could possibly force you into replanning your garden. A gorgeous garden always pulls the eye to a focal point, so in your planning you must decide on the right position. You can go for something like a decorative tree, or perhaps a tall sculpture. It's possibly best to choose the item highest on your wish list as the main feature, but then you may even want more than one if your garden is large. At minimum, create a drawing demonstrating the desired layout of the garden, so that the end result is charming and invites one to explore a little closer.

Your sketch or guide should show all the primary things, such as the house, the property boundaries and the location of the focal features with everything done to scale. Establish your choices regarding accessories and features, the colorations you want and which plants. The next thing is to leap into action, once all the decisions have been finalised.
