Back Yard Landscaping Ideas

By Helen Whitfield

Whenever you buy a new house, the backyard holds the most interest. The reason to that is quite simple. You need enough space to set up a pool, to have a play area for the children, to have a barbeque with friends or simply enjoy a sunny day out in the open.

The backyard planning should include all of these things when you want to set up a beautiful back yard. Landscaping designs for this part of your home are very different from the front yard details. In the back yard you need a lot more accessories, and a lot more money invested. Even if you do not plan in having a pool, a barbeque space still needs to be arranged, or even an outdoor chimney or outdoor oven.

You can try and build these things on your own, but make sure that you are really good at it, you would not want the oven to collapse on your food!

Some people put a lot of money into a terrace. It looks amazing, but it costs a lot. If you want this type of landscape designs included into your backyard planning, make sure you have a lot of money for it.

A concrete base can be added onto the terrace. After the composition is dried, wooden panels are added with a special adhesive. On this wooden base, wooden chairs and tables, or even a mini-bar can be added. This part of the backyard has to be far enough from the barbeque place, to eliminate the danger of fire. The terrace can be covered with wood or with any other material that you think will look good on your terrace. The construction time is generally limited to 3 days, provided that the owner has all the required materials purchased, and a precise plan on how he wants the terrace to look.

Another of the important elements in backyard planning is the pool. One must know for certain if the pool fits in the backyard. If a house has a relatively small backyard, the pool idea may not be feasible. Space is very important, and you cannot install a pool in just any backyard. But, if you still want the water element, you can try for a small artificial waterfall and river that looks amazing and is far cheaper than a pool.
