Black Mold Removing Ideas

By Scott Rodgers

It can be a homeowner's worst nightmare. Learning that your home is infested with toxic black mold can be a daunting reality that must be dealt with as soon as possible. Black mold can cause a number of serious health problems and if left untreated, can spread throughout the house. Its cleaning tips are shared below.

Do not forget your safety while following the tips shared below. Always wear rubber hand gloves and a breathing mask before you begin the cleaning process. At times the black mold can be toxic as well and inhaling it may result in brain damage, and in severe cases, death.

It is important to estimate the degree of problem. A thorough cleaning is enough if the reason behind black mold generation is excess moisture. If the problem is quite large like a leaking pipe, than it can be quite tricky.

If the reason behind black mold growth is a leaking pipe, it is important to get it repaired first. Cleaning the mold from that area is not of much use, as the leaking pipe will again provide moisture to the area, helping in the growth of black mold again.

Use soapy water and a cleaning brush to break up the mold. Initially, pour soapy water where the mold is growing and use a stiff cleaning brush to break most of the black mold. When you finish breaking the bulk of the mold, spray the area with a mold- killing product.

You can go in for any of the options mentioned below: if you want you can get a commercial mold- cleaning agent or bleach or white distilled vinegar. Take the solution you want to use and spray it on the moldy area. Clean it with a brush, rinse it with clean water and use a soft cloth to dab excess water.

Black mold can be a serious health risk and you should never wait to remove it. Even though black mold causes serious health problems, it is fairly easy and quick to remove. What all you have to do is get the necessary supplies and start cleaning.

Preventing it from returning is also important. If you had a leak, you might have repaired it by now. If you did not have a problem like this, then it is likely that too much moisture builds up in your bath. Fix it by using a dehumidifier.
