Top Reasons To Get An "Artificial Lawn"

By Richard Barker

Many people love the sight of a well kept grass lawn. Grass however is quite involving in trying to keep it in top condition. The high cost of maintaining grass has made it necessary to look for other ways to get the same look and feel. Installing an "artificial lawn" can be more costly than installing grass but the costs and time involved in upkeep is almost eliminated.

An artificial lawn has very low maintenance overhead since majority of the tasks that are required for a grass field are eliminated. Tasks like mowing, weeding, watering and fertilizer application are done away with. This is ideal for busy people or the elderly since they may not be able to carry out these tasks.

The amount of water required to keep grass in good condition can be quite high especially in drier areas. Irrigation needs for many homesteads account for almost seventy five percent of all the water used. This is a costly undertaking that is not required if natural grass is eliminated.

A good field should be as flat as possible to avoid accidents and potential injuries. Sportsmen particularly are prone to accidents if the field is not flat. Children too can easily fall or twist an ankle while playing if the surface is uneven. Synthetic grass makes it easy to set up and maintain a level surface free of ruts and potholes.

They are also great for areas that experience heavy usage. Fields used for sports are particularly suited for tougher material. This is because they are constantly used for practice as well as matches. Grass is difficult to keep growing properly in heavy use areas because it cannot grow fast enough to replace itself.

Some areas can pose challenges if one were to use normal grass. This is because of the extra care that it requires to remain in good condition. A roof garden is one such place that synthetic grass can work better than grass. The extra weight of wet soil is eliminated and also irrigating and trimming the grass is not done.

Grass brings about a lot of additional costs that make it unfavorable in the long run. An alternative to this is the artificial lawn which reduces the upkeep while providing the same look and feel. The initial cost of installation may seem higher, but the overall cost is much lower. It has almost zero overhead after installation making a lot of savings both in money and time.
