Food and wine pairing is also about tastes and weight. There are many tastes in the wine and in the food. The most important thing in your pairing trusting in your palate. It will tell you whether you made the right or bad decision. If you pair a Cabernet Sauvignon with Char Grilled Vegetable and you enjoy it, then you made a good matching.

Probably, in the earlier example the dinner would find that the Sauvignon would interact unfavorably with the charred areas of the Parmesan, making it taste salty and bitter. Likewise the vegetables would make the wine seem thin and sour (and completely steamroll such a light-bodied wine). So in actuality most would find this pair clashes badly and all of the clues come directly from your palate.

Some of the most fundamental considerations are the respective weights of both the food and the wine. Don't become too fixated on the color of the wine, but rather its body. To get you started, as a general rule heavy goes with heavy and light goes with light. Of equal importance is the preparation of the dish. Chicken Picata with Chardonnay or Viognier would be lovely. A roasted chicken with herbs and root vegetables might need a Pinot Noir. Chili Con Carne would perhaps benefit from a Reininger Syrah or Grenache.

Avoid strongly flavored foods with lots of onion, garlic, hot spice, etc. as the wine can pick up these flavors (after all do really want to drink a wine that tastes like garlic?). High alcohol wines tend to pair very poorly with spicy foods because the alcohol creates a hot sensation on the palate that magnifies and clashes with the spice present in the food.

Spice your food carefully like in the Kung Pao Chicken and try with it with the cool Gewurztraminer. A bit heavier Tunisian Chicken is still nice with an Argentinian Crios de Susana Balbo Rose of Malbec.

Please do not forget to ignore pairing wine with extremely hot and spicy foods (Spicy Cajun Gumbo). In that case choose a different alcoholic beverage. Respect that wines have borderline.

Do not forget that many classic examples exist of food and wine pairings that are tried and true. For example: foie gras and Sauternes, grilled steak and Chateau Maris Minervois La Touge (Grenache and Syrah) or Chicken paella and red Rioja. These are reliable, low-risk ventures that will likely result in an enjoyable overall dining experience. In the process we might notice that the proteins in our steak actually soften the tannins in our Syrah.

A long time ago, the word Halal hasn't even been noticed by non-Muslims. Now, more and more restaurants are obeying halal laws. Though it is increasing in its popularity, many of us still don't know what it fully means. A common knowledge about halal is that it forbids Muslims from consuming pork and taking alcohol. Although partly correct, halal diet goes beyond than just those prohibitions.

Halal is a Quranic term that means lawful or allowed. Muslims are expected to consume food that are good and nourishing, and reject those that are bad. Islamic religion places a strong emphasis on cleanliness, and that includes the context of food and drink.

Halal restaurants ensure that the ingredients they use and the meals they serve are allowed in Islam. Basically, everything is allowed to be taken. However, in the interest of cleanliness and respect to God, Muslims avoid foods that are specifically defined as forbidden, or haram.

The rules include the method of animal slaughtering. In order for a meat to be rendered halal, the animal should be slaughtered correctly while reciting God's name, which recognizes the sacredness of life. The ritual slaughtering includes the swift cutting of the animal's trachea and esophagus.

Those meats that are prohibited or haram to consume include omnivores, such as dogs and monkeys, and meats that were not correctly slaughtered. Fishes are exempted from this rule.

Depending on how it is obtained and processed, a food can be considered halal or haram. Example includes an apple pie. It is permitted only if all the ingredients used are also halal. However, if lard, or pig fat, is used, then the whole apple pie is considered haram.

Gelatins may seem unthreatening at first, but there are brands that are derived from pork and thus considered haram. To rectify this, Muslim consumer groups have published food list of products that conform to Islamic dietary laws.

Despite having various races and lifestyles, Muslims are still under the same faith. They all loyally observe Islamic dietary laws. That is why there is an increasing number of halal restaurants nowadays.

This is plenty big enough to create a meal for one or a handy side dish for a potluck brunch. On the other hand, if you will be feeding a family the size of a small army you will need at least a 5-quart model and maybe a 7-quart unit. How and what you cook is part of the considerations on size as well. For instance if you are thinking about cooking some baby back ribs until they fall off the bone you will need to find the biggest slow cooker available.

That being said you would have to take a few extra precautions with these types of recipes. Especially if you plan to leave, the concoction unattended whiles you run errands or work. An over whipped or beaten dessert can create quite the mess if they raise high enough to push the lid off the crock. After a long day at work, this is the last thing you want to deal with.

Your menu will never be dull again when you have a crock-pot at your disposal. Create complex meals like spicy paella, simple dips such as a cream cheese layer and all time favorites like pot roast with all the trimmings. Do You Know Where Did Pizza Come From?

Okay so we all like pizza, many of us like to eat it on a regular basis, some of us have it as a treat, however you eat it we all have to agree that it's one of our favorites, for many of us at least. We chow it down and enjoy a good chat as we eat it but have you ever stopped to think of where it came from, not just Italy but originally, how it all started?

The name is a given but its not sure when 'pizza' was actually used or why or where it really came from. History tells us that it was used as far back as the year 997 but not how it started! However there was something called a Galatte back in medieval times which was a round flat bread, this was not usually eaten but it was used as a tool for a baker to tell when his oven had got to a certain temperature. This bread was then either discarded or sold to the poor on the streets.

Many years later around 1700 or so people started to cover the flat round bread with a simple white sauce to make it more appealing and easier to eat and enjoy. Around one hundred years after that is when people really started to think more as things like oil and fish were used, a chef at the time noticed and commented on how versatile this idea was.

1889 saw a chef connected to service royalty making a special flat bread, round in shape with oil, tomatoes, cheese and basil for the Queens consort, a lady called Margherita and this was how the classic cheese and tomato Mrgherita pizza was formed. It is said he used those 3 main toppings to represent the white, red and green colours of the Italian flag in her honour.

He was the first person to put cheese on a pizza and after that the amount of variation and its popularity across the entire world grew but there is no real knowledge as to how that happened or who really kick started it all, I'm just personally glad someone did and I'm sure that you are as well!

Of course we know that it is now very popular indeed in the United States and this will stem from the flow of Italian Immigrants that came over in the 19th Century who would have introduced the idea to Americans who literally lapped it up! The Italians would make them and go selling them on the street from tubs on their heads for 2 cents a chew and it was much appreciated by all.

Of course selling on the streets isn't always the best option and businesses grew aware of just how popular this delicacy was and how much the public liked it. This lead to cafes and stores selling it and then of course there were the pizzerias dedicated to selling it alone, Manhattan was the first place a pizzeria was opened according to many.

Whatever you believe be thankful to those wonderful Italians and their inventive minds for without them we wouldn't have that lovely pizza-pie we all know and love. And next time you feel like going out for one why not try and make your own, it's so easy and you can have it your way!

kettle corn popcorn is probably the choice of a snack for a lot of people. Not only is popcorn good for you, but kettle popcorn is not as bad for you as most sweet treats. If you would like to make your own kettle popcorn, all you have to do is look at recipes on the internet.

They both equally agreed that this was the best sweet treat that they had ever tried before in their life. I knew mom and dad could not be wrong because they had lived a long time. I also knew that mom and dad made sure to bring a few extra cents so that me and my brother could get some of this scrumptious treat.

If brown sugar is used you will get more of a caramel corn. So to stick with the kettle popcorn taste you will want to stick with white sugar instead of using the brown sugar, unless you are looking for more of a caramel corn. If you are someone who enjoys the popcorn balls (which seem to only come out around Halloween) then you will love Kettle Corn.

Finally finding the vendor that I had spotted when we came in advertising in large letters which said "Kettle Corn Popcorn here." I was able to hop in line, I did not care that the fair was getting ready to close in fifteen minutes or that the line was much longer than a fifteen minute wait, I was hopeful that things would move fast enough and I would get to try this popcorn.

There are several recipes on the internet which you can try if you want to spice up your kettle popcorn. There are ways you can add color to the corn instead of just having white. In order to add color you should add a couple drops of food coloring to the sugar and oil before you put the kernels in, you mix it all up and then add the kernels.

My heart almost skipped a beat when I realized that the man almost closed the window on me before he realized I was there. Apologizing to me, he asked me what I would like to try today! I knew I only had a couple seconds to decide because the fair people were not happy that everyone had not cleared the grounds yet.

Maybe you do not want to make your own Kettle corn popcorn, if not you can simply buy a bag from a local grocery store. Sometimes the grocery stores will have theirs pre-made in a bag and sometimes you have to buy it in a bag that you stick in the microwave. Either way, don't forget to give this wonderful sweet treat a try.

The Barbeque Taco Tastes Like Heaven!

After so many burrito excursions, I knew it was time to broaden my horizons. I decided to move on over to tacos. What a great choice this ended up being! The barbeque taco is one of the greatest things I've ever tried in South Florida. I am continually surprised by how tasteful everything always is here. This taco was like nothing I had ever dined on. It's doubtful that any other establishment could compare.

Right off the bat I was impressed with the quantity of food. I was served three soft shell tortillas, which were warm and smelt appetizing. It was well worth the money!

Your meat selections are steak, chicken, chicken breast, and pork. My favorite thing to do is combine the steak and chicken. It comes at no extra charge, and it's fabulous!

You are then faced with the decision between brown or black beans. Black beans are my personal favorite so I went with those. What an incredible treat!

One of the most exciting parts of Palm Beach is always picking out which meal you want. Cheese is such an important ingredient in any meal. The cheddar cheese was the one that enticed me the most, and for good reason!

We then moved along to the veggies section. This is where the choices really start to pile up. A good place to start with this taco is corn. It brings an incredible taste and texture to an already delicious taco!

In addition to the corn, there are so many other veggie selections. For the bbq ranch taco, you'll want to add diced green onions and fresh, diced local tomatoes. I am so glad that South Florida establishments support local farming!

You may at this point be wondering why this taco holds the title bbq ranch. Well, it's all in the amazing combination of sauces that they top each taco off with. Both the bbq sauce and the ranch sauce are delectable additions to these tasty tacos!

A French Musketer - The Brie Cheese

Near to Paris Brie de Meaux is the home of Brie Cheese. The ingredient is unpasteurized whole or semi-skimmed milk. Heat treatment is on 98.6 F. During the production they use "pelle brie" which is a perforated ladle. Then farmers salt it with an especially dry salt. Final product's fat content is about 45% which should be consumed within 8 weeks otherwise cheese lover can be sick.

Be careful when you buy Brie anywhere in the world because only two of them can use officially its name.

Called "King of Cheeses", Brie de Meaux (have been produced more than 1200 years) and Brie de Melun.

Brie de Meaux ("Le Roi des Fromages") has the sweetness one would expect from a top world's cheese. Brie de Meaux delivers a very soft combination of hazelnut and fruit aromas. Small dairies have taken over production Brie de Melun while preserving the old farm traditions of production and ripening.
